SGS is delighted to announce the seminar on Bottled Water and Beverages - Hygiene and Safety Guidelines, aimed at providing awareness about the global as well as domestic framework for manufacturers and their supply chain partners.
As a packaged food, bottled water is subject to a full array of stringent regulatory and enforcement actions across the globe. Criminal penalties are imposed under the Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act for misbranding and adulteration provisions.
Industry associations such as International Council of Bottled water Associations (ICBWA), European Federation of Bottled Water Associations (EFBW), Canadian Bottled Water Association (CBWA), German Mineral Water Association (VdM) and many other international, regional and national bottler associations have developed model codes to which their members must adhere. This includes regular inspections, product testing and process audits. These regulations and enforcements by various countries help to ensure that only safe, high quality bottled water products reach the marketplace.Bottled water companies must adhere to quality standards, good manufacturing practices and labelling requirements.
SGS has an international network of ISO 17025 accredited laboratories to support the bottled water and beverages industry. Through recognized methodologies based on SEM-EDS (scanning electronic microscopy), SGS can detect presence of micro-plastic contamination even at a micrometer level. We also have a dedicated team of experts to support our clients to navigate through the industry compliance requirements.
