India’s food and grocery market is the sixth largest in the world and is growing rapidly, expected to reach USD 482 billion by 2020. As the market has expanded, the industry has taken on new challenges, including an increased risk of consumer exposure to hazards. With the potential for harm being greater than ever before, the industry must do all it can to minimize risk. This includes ensuring strict adherence to food safety and quality assurance mechanisms, such as Total Quality Management (TQM), ISO 9000, ISO 22000, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygienic Practices (GHP).
