SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company recently announced that it has launched the SGS Academy in India. SGS Academy India is a professional training entity directed towards nurturing talent and enabling continuous organizational progression to meet local training and talent development needs.

SGS Academy in India is one of 35 SGS worldwide centre of excellence, offering more than 110 training courses across 18 categories, leading to formal qualifications. It focuses on contributing to continuous improvement strategies by providing an integrated approach to all aspects of quality, health and safety, environmental, and sustainability management systems. SGS Academy’s training empowers the individual, while also recognising and formalising their skills and knowledge through structured education.

Recognising the diverse needs of the Indian economy, SGS Academy offers flexible training and development solutions to suit individual and organisational needs, from corporate management training and professional development training programmes to customised training solutions via public or in-house training.

The opening ceremony was held at in Mumbai and was attended by people from various walks of lives including academicians, trainers, business owners, business managers among others. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nagraj Ranganathan, Business Director, Systems and Services Certification, welcomed all the representatives, and briefed them about how the SGS Academy would empower employees by upgrading their knowledge and skill.

Mr. Paul House, Managing Director, SGS India spoke about the the overall vision of the SGS Academy. “SGS seeks to be recognised by its passion, integrity, entrepreneurialism and its innovative spirit, as we continually strive to fulfil the vision we have set for ourselves”, he added.

Mr. Nilesh Jadhav, Head Certification, Systems and Services Certification provided an overview of SGS Training Academy covering its objective, core services in India, academy presence, service portfolio and SGS’ approach towards learning and development.

This event was followed by informative sessions with speakers from Institutes like SIBM (Symbiosis Institute of Business Management) & MIT School of Business, focusing on industry academia interface and a separate session was also conducted on Skilling Young Indians for Employment.

Mr. Nandan Savnal, Director of People SYS consultancy spoke about the importance of business continuity management and how SGS certification and training can be beneficial in this field.

Dr. Rao, Executive Vice President of West Coast Frozen Foods Pvt Ltd, showed the importance of workplace learning and development and how as a business manager it affected his productivity.The event was attended by key clients of SGS India covering a range of industries thus showing support and trusts this new initiative.

To strengthen the establishment of the SGS Academy in India it was also announced that SGS had also been formally accredited by EXIN as an Accredited Training Provider (ATP) and Accredited Examination Centre (AEC) for EXIN’s courses on information security.
