AATCC Test Methods Training: Best Practices using AATCC Gray Scales for Visual Color Assessment
AATCC has introduced a new International Training Program beginning the third quarter 2012. This program includes teaching fundamentals of colorfastness test evaluations along with practical application as per AATCC test standards. SGS has signed a collaborative agreement with limited exclusivity to deliver this training in 9 global locations executively.
This training program focuses specifically on colorfastness evaluations using both Gray Scales and the 9-Step Chromatic Transference Scale. The program is structured to provide classroom lectures, color vision testing and practical assessment following AATCC test methods, followed by examination . The color vision testing includes the Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue test and the Ishihara Color test. The examination is divided into three parts; visual assessment of specimens, technique evaluation and a written examination.
Upon successful completion of the AATCC training, a certificate of practical application is issued for Evaluation Procedure 1, 2 and 8. Membership is not included, but participation is open to anyone.
Benefits of participation
Participants will receive first rate instruction from one of our many certified international trainers. Many times, the training is conducted in the participants’ own language. Participants will learn exactly how each test method is performed. Learning these proper techniques will improve the accuracy and repeatability of test results. Retesting will be reduced, thus lab time will be saved.
Who Should Participate?
Both programs are intended for engineers, technicians, quality control personnel, inspectors, auditors, merchandisers, designers, and sales & marketing personnel, who are employed by Laboratories (Government and Independent), Apparel & Textile Product Manufacturers, Trading and Merchandising Companies, Dyeing, Printing and Finishing Mills, Agents and Retailers. Anyone involves directly with testing fabrics and garments, as well as those who review the test results, in all areas from designing to finished product also will benefit from the programs.
