Consumer Goods and Retail Audits Against the ASEAN Safety Requirements (2003)
In 2003, members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) signed an agreement regulating the safety of cosmetic products traded within their member states.
The goal of the agreement was twofold: to ensure the safety, quality and claimed benefits to products, and to eliminate trade barriers between member states through harmonised technical requirements.
The ASEAN Cosmetic Directive includes complex guidelines covering a number of aspects of cosmetic production including ingredients, labelling, benefit claims, and other industry standard good manufacturing practices (GMP). In order to qualify for ASEAN registration, your company should first undergo a comprehensive ASEAN safety audit by a reliable and recognised auditor.
SGS is a globally recognised leader in conducting safety audits for a wide range of industries. We have the experience and the expertise to ensure that your operation is fully compliant with the ASEAN Harmonised Cosmetic Regulatory Scheme.
