Alia Construction (Pvt) Limited, a member of the Alia Group of Companies, is the first construction company in Maldives to have obtained ISO 9001:2008 certifications.

An “ISO Certificate Award” Ceremony was held at Dharubaaruge Convention Centre, in conjunction with MACI Build & Home Expo 2014, on 28 April 2014, to officially award this certificate, issued by SGS Sri Lanka to Alia Construction Pvt Ltd.

Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, The Hon. Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, was the Guest of Honour at this special ceremony. Whilst Ms. Susan Law, Regional Manager (South East Asia Pacific) of SGS Systems and Services Certification (SSC) was invited to speak and formally handed the ISO 9002:2008 Certificate to Mr. Atho Ali, Managing Director of Alia Construction.
 
“This is a milestone achievement for the company in celebrating our 50th anniversary this year. We are the first company in the Maldives that began construction as a ‘Company’ and the successful achievement of this international certification is a feather in our capability. Our strong reputation for delivering projects on time and our commitment to maintain the highest ethical and safety standards has enabled us to be ranked among the leading companies in the construction industry,” says Alau Ali, Executive Director of Alia Investments.

Other VIPs that attended included N.Siram of Country Manager of SGS Sri Lanka, Batuvita Sumanasiri of Business Manager of SGS SSC, and senior officials and representatives of various sector of the construction industry.
